Rep. Crist has agreed to sponsor the bill again in the next legislative session! One of our partner organizations, the National Disability Institute is conducting a survey to determine things that have been successful in the initiative and things that need to be improved. Senate Bill 2684 was passed unanimously in the Senate Health Care Policy Committee! Thanks for those calls and emails! Now, it needs to be heard in these Senate Committees: Children, Families, and Elder Affairs and the Health and Human Services Appropriations.

Senate Bill 2684 is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Health Care Policy Committee at 10:45am on April 15, 2008. Call the Committee members and let them know why this bill is important to persons with disabilities who want to work. The House Health Care Council has still not scheduled it.

A bill has been filed in the Florida House (HB 1311) and in the Senate (SB 2684) to implement the initiative in Florida. The bills have to be heard in commitees. They have each been assigned to the Health committees in the House and Senate but have not been scheduled to be heard yet. See a sample of the bill in the "Resources" section of this site. Call the committee chairs if you want the bill to be heard!
Support is buidling around the state as interest in this Initiative keeps growing!!
